time catchers, sort of

I know they are just trying to keep the leaves out of the pond, to save the place from going anoxic from too much organic mass degradation, save the fish , keep it clean and cool.. but I can't help thinking whoever put the net on top of the pond is trying to stop the time and catch it his space-time warp nets, in a Clifford Simaak kind of way.. well they seem to be doing a good job in keeping the autumn away from the water..
